Hello brother/sister umpires -
With all this cold weather and 5+ feet of snow on the ground, will we ever get on the field?
Nonetheless, the WABUA E-Board has confirmed the following meeting schedule for the 2015 season. We are using a slightly different format for a few of the meetings, and we are using a couple of new sites. Thus, please read the following schedule carefully:
Tuesday, March 3rd - HS Preseason Meeting @ the Auburn Elks.
This will be an extended meeting. We will be having a well-established vendor coming to Auburn this night to sell equipment and apparel. He will be ready to do business at 6:00PM. Also, this will be a social event as well as a business event! We plan to serve a buffet meal to the membership for NO CHARGE! Meanwhile, I will be conducting a regular meeting which will begin around 7:30. My meeting will go between a hour and an hour 15 minutes. It will focus primarily on High School baseball (all the rules and directives you will need to have a successful HS season). Your obligation will be to notify me and/or Steve Vantre Sr. of your presence. The deadline for this request is Friday, February 27th.
Sunday, March 29th - MECHANICS MEETING - @ Auburn HS Baseball Diamond - 11:00AM.
More information to come in the next few weeks. Again, we're strongly considering an alternative format so that we can get more membership participation.
Monday, April 6 - @ Auburn HS Cafeteria - 7:00PM
Monday, April 27 - @ Auburn HS Cafeteria - 7:00PM
Monday, May 11 - @ Auburn HS Cafeteria - 7:00PM (2016 WABUA Dues payable at this meeting)
Monday, June 1st - WABUA Banquet - @ Auburn Elks (downstairs) *** NEW DATE ***
Cocktail Hour from 6:00 - 7:00PM
Family-Style Meal at 7:00PM
Important - our 2015 meeting requirements are as follows:
· Any THREE of the five listed meetings
· Attendance at BOTH the HS Preseason Meeting & the Mechanics Meeting
YES! If you attend the first two meetings, you're good for the year! This gives HS umpires the piece of mind that they don't have to worry about being late to meetings once the season begins, while providing the membership with opportunities to network with both new and veteran officials. I feel by getting my vendor from Connecticut to our high school meeting at the Elks, it's an awesome opportunity to get what you need without scrambling through websites shortly before the season starts.
Again - Steve Vantre Sr. and I need you all to reply to this e-mail and confirm your attendance at the Auburn Elks meeting on 3/3. An accurate count is paramount to making this a successful event and something to strongly consider for the future.
I hope to see EVERY one of you at the Elks in a couple of weeks.
Yours in baseball,
